FOUR OUT OF FOUR
(516 kelime) (2640 kez okundu)
| One day we had a long discussion with Buyukcekmece Mayor Hasan Akgun in the office of Bahcelievler Mayor Saffet Bulut about whether or not I could foretell earthquakes. The following day Mr. Bulut and Mr. Akgun went to Trabzon to watch the Galatasaray-Trabzon football match. That day I received the signals that there would be earthquakes in Balikesir, Greece, Manisa and Burdur. Like I did to many friends, I let Seyfettin Kucukali, Black Sea Regional Director of Metro Tourism who was in Trabzon, about the signals I received. To my surprise, he was at a meal of Macka Mayor Omer Yildiz in Zigana and was accompanied by Hasan Akgun, Saffet Bulut and some others. He told me that Hasan Akgun would like to talk to me and passed the phone to Mr. Akgun. In a derisive manner, he asked me where would an earthquake occur and said that he would not come back to Istanbul if I expected an earthquake. In a serious manner, I asked him how many people there were together with him. He said "15". I asked him if he had a pen and a piece of paper. He had. Then I asked him to write down "There will be earthquakes of magnitude larger than 4 in Balikesir, Greece, Manisa and Burdur." I asked all those with him to sign that paper. He said, "OK, everybody here witnesses this. I will appreciate you if an earthquake occurs in one of these locations. But if no earthquake occurs in any of these locations, then you'll quit doing this." I promised that I would not tell anyone about my forecasts anymore unless the four out of four were correct, and reminded him not to deny it if they really occur. The following day, there were earthquakes in all of those four locations. They were back in Istanbul then. I went to the office of Mr. Bulut once again. He said that he had not believed me the day we discussed with Mr. Akgun but that he realized then that I really could know earthquakes beforehand and that was something serious. A guest of his stood up and asked "Is this the man who made Mr. Akgun write down the locations of earthquakes?". Mr. Bulut nodded and introduced me to Macka Mayor Omer Yildiz, who came to Istanbul with them. Mayor Omer Yildiz took a piece of paper out of his pocket and said, "Congratulations! Bravo! You said four locations and there occurred earthquakes in all of them. Nobody can deny it, everybody signed it that night. Send me if any of them does deny." Then when I asked Mr. Akgun what he thought about this, he said, "Yes, you made them up, and four out of four came to be consistent with what actually happened." Then I replied, "You make one up then, and let it be consistent if you can."
